Thursday 20th April: 7.30pm-9.30pm
Thursday 18th May: 10-12
In this class you will learn how to sew a simple flat rectangular zipped pouch. More advanced sewists may even have time for two: these make lovely gifts! Continuous coil zipping (usually ivory, teal, red, orange or green) will be provided and you will learn to cut this to length and add a zip pull. Iron on interfacing and a basic calico lining fabric will also be supplied.
You will need to bring an outer fabric, and lining fabric if you would prefer something more interesting than the plain calico. Requirements as follows:
Approximately 25x50cms. If you are purchasing fabric online this would be a standard ‘fat quarter’ in quilting terms, or simply buy quarter of a metre of any fabric and you would have enough for two pouches or more. Recommended fabrics: cotton, linen, denim, canvas.
If you are learning on your own machine, you will require a zipper foot, which comes as a standard accessory with most machines. Please let me know if you are unsure about this.
