This sewing session is a slightly extended version of the An introduction to using a sewing machine: £25 class. Aimed at complete beginners who would like to get stuck into their first sewing challenge without delay! After learning all about your machine and how to get started (please refer to the ‘Introduction’ class for details), you will learn how to make a simple zipped pouch. Interfacing, an ivory coloured zipper, and simple calico lining fabric will be supplied.
You will need to bring along your outer fabric: approximately 25x50cms. If you are purchasing fabric online this would be a standard ‘fat quarter’ in quilting terms, or simply buy quarter of a metre of any fabric and you would have enough for two pouches. Recommended fabrics: cotton, linen, denim, canvas.
If you are learning on your own machine, you will require a zipper foot, which comes as a standard accessory with most machines. Please let me know if you are unsure about this.
